Cuff
Work in rows
Chain 20 stitches
The stitch count represents the height of your border. Adjust here for other sizes, compare with your hand.
At the beginning of each row: chain 1, stitch through the 2nd stitch from hook, then stitch through every stitch.
Row 1: slip stitches through back loops of your chain
Then: 1 slip stitch through back loops
Make sure to have a very loose tension
61 rows of slip stitching through back loops
The row number represents the width of your cuff.
It's elastic and comfy.
Better less rows than too many.
Thumb space
Join the cuff stripe to a tube by slip stitching from the inside
Alternative: sewing (use any method you prefer)
Try and see if it fits well.
Switch to the 2mm crochet hook.
The knit stitch needs a smaller hook size and a very loose tension at the same time.
Crochet single crochets (knit stitch) in spiral rounds from now on.
12 rounds of knit stitch
Compare the mittens with your hand. Crochet so many rounds until the thumb space should be done.
If you have no hands to compare use a paper hand copy.
Skip 16 stitches for the thumb space.
Adjust this stitch number for other sizes.
Continue to crochet the knit stitch in spiral rounds.
Leave the thumb space as it is.
