The download will give you a sock chart.
Video pattern also for lefties
This sock version is an alternative to the video tutorial. You can start right away without doing a swatch or calculation.
The difference is only the shaft border. This version is made with a double border, the video tutorial shows a ribbing border.
These blue socks were made with our organic Merino yarn, color Marine and Tangerine: https://woolpedia.de/Woolpedia-Colors-Bio-Wunsch-Farbverlaufsgarn-Merino-Extrafein-p406352124

Yardage: 425m for both socks, 213m of each color
4ply version, 3.5mm (US E-4) crochet hook
We‘re going to crochet the shaft first, we‘re going to skip the heel, then crochet the toe section and we‘re going to finish with the heel.
I‘ve chosen 2 different colors especially for the pattern. This way you are able to see the process in a better visual way. Your work will look better if you would choose only 1 color for both strands or our Socks gradients.
Shaft border
Chain so many stitches that the chain will fit loosely around your foot. It will be tighter afterwards. Choose more stitches rather than less.
52 chain stitches, join to a round.
Work in spiral rounds, no joining, no beginning of a round, work continuously the knit stitch.
1st round: Cast on some stitches, pause. Join the Tangerine yarn on the other end of your double-ended hook. Tie a simple knot with the new yarn. Now pull the Tangerine yarn through the 1st loop only once, then pull the Tangerine yarn always through 2 loops. Leave a few loops of Marine yarn on your hook. Turn your work.
Continue to pick up the stitches with Marine, pull always through 2 with Tangerine.
From round 2: Crochet the knit stitch using the Marine color, pull always through 2 with Tangerine color.
After 12 rounds: fold your work and crochet a double border.
Stitch the hook through the next stitch and through the 2nd layer (folded work). Crochet a knit stitch through 2 layers. This way you‘re connecting both layers while crocheting the knit stitch.
You‘ll get a joined, round tube.
Shaft
Crochet 25 more rounds of knit stitch.
Length variable, your preference
Now set markers each before and after half of your stitches.
Next round, skip all the stitches in marked section and cast on the same number of stitches above.
Continue to crochet the knit stitch in rounds.
This will be the heel opening.
Continue to crochet in rounds.
Wear the sock in between to see the progress.
We‘re going to start the toe section when only the toes are left uncovered.
Kids size example foot section after heel and before toe section: 30 rounds
Toe section
Set markers for half of your stitches.
Decreases: crochet together 2nd last and 3rd last stitch before the marker and crochet together 2nd and 3rd stitch after the marker
Round 1: Knit stitch with decreases at each marker
Round 2: Knit stitch without decreases
Round 3: Knit stitch with decreases at each marker
Round 4: Knit stitch without decreases
Round 5: Knit stitch with decreases at each marker
Round 6: Knit stitch without decreases
Round 7: Knit stitch with decreases at each marker
Round 8: Knit stitch without decreases
From round 9: Knit stitch with decreases at each marker
Continue to crochet until 1/3 of the stitches is left. Sew the opening from the inside.
Or from the outside like this: https://youtu.be/AW7sahLdDrs
Heel
Add the Marine color at any place on the heel opening, tie a knot.
Cast on stitches across the opening.
Add the Tangerine color at the same place where you tied the Marine yarn.
Use Tangerine color for the return pass as usual.
Crochet the heel the same way as the toe section.
Sew all the loose ends.
You’re done!
This will be a great gift for your friends and loved ones.
