Swatch
Before knitting the actual sweater we’re going to knit a swatch for calculating the stitch number.
The swatch will have the size of 20 stitches and 20 rows.
I’ve got an 8.5 cm width and a 6 cm height.
I will need a collar for a 50cm head size.
In meinem Beispiel stricke ich den Pulli in Gr. 4-6 Jahre.
Meine Maschenprobe ist 8,5 cm breit und 6 cm hoch.
Der Kopfumfang beträgt 50cm.
20 stitches / 8.5cm x 50cm = 117.6
I decided to knit 120 stitches because you can divide them by 3 and that’s perfect for our raglan sweater.
Collar
Cast on 120 stitches.
Join to a circle, knit 14 rounds.
Double border
Fold the peace and connect every stitch on your needle to the opposite cast-on stitch.
Continue knitting in rounds until the collar is long enough.
Raglan Bevels
Set markers for raglan sections.
Divide your stitches by 3 (front part, back part, sleeves).
120 stitches / 3 = 40 stitches
40 stitches for sleeves, 20 per sleeve
Set a colored marker for the beginning of a round.
Knit 20 stitches for the 1st sleeve, set a marker.
Knit 40 stitches (main part), set a marker.
Knit 20 stitches for the 2nd sleeve, set a marker.
40 stitches should be left for the other main part.
Front and back part are worked the same way.
Shape the raglan bevels by increasing.
For this alternate between 1 increasing round and one without any increases.
Round 1: 1 increase before and after each marker.
Round 2: no increases
Main pattern: knit stitches
Sleeve pattern: purl 1, knit 3
Knit until the sleeve and torso section is big enough. Try on your sweater or compare it to a sweater that has a perfect fit.
Torso
Pause the sleeves.
Use scrap yarn and a tapestry needle for picking-up all the sleeve stitches. Tie a knot.
Knit in rounds and skip the sleeve sections.
Take off all the sleeve stitches from the needles after pausing.
Don't increase.
Length from collar end till bottom border: 43 cm
Border pattern: knit 3, purl 1
15 rounds
Cast-off ans sew all the loose ends.
Sleeves
Switch to ChiaoGoo Shorties
Pick up all the sleeve stitches onto your needles. Pull out the scrap yarn.
Knitting in rounds, sleeve pattern: knit 3, purl 1
When your sleeve is long enough, cast-off (like the bottom border).
Example length: 35.5 cm
Optional: set a marker and decrease (eg. in every 9th round) to shape tapered sleeves
This sweater is made from our Colors cotton-mix yarncakes.
Same size, same stitch count.
Collar color: Mandelbaum
Body: Weiß
The sleeves are a bit shorter, only 30cm.
I deacreases in every 9th round of each sleeve.
This version seems to be more comfy.
